Wednesday Notes 10-25-17

Sarris Candy Sale:  Sarris Candy fliers are in your child’s Wednesday folder.  This fundraiser is used to help offset tuition costs.  Money and orders will be due on Wednesday, November 15th.  The candy will be delivered on Thursday, December 14th.

Fall Festival:  Students in Kindergarten through 5th grades will participate in the Fall Festival on Friday, October 27th.  Students are not permitted to wear costumes for this event.

Kindergarten Schedule:  Kindergarten students will begin to attend school Monday through Friday, beginning Friday, October 27th.

End of the 1st 9 Weeks:  The end of the 1st 9 weeks will be Friday, October 27th.  Report Cards will be given out at Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 2nd.

Scholastic Book Fair:  The Scholastic Book Fair will be held November 1 – 3.  Younger students will be able to make a wish list for parents on November 1st.  Parents are invited to shop during Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Parent/Teacher Conferences:  Conference forms were sent home in your child’s folder.  If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher on Thursday, November 2nd, please return the form quickly. Report Cards will be given to parents who attend.  If you are unable to attend conferences, you child’s report card will be sent home in their Wednesday folder on November 8th.

Highland Photography: School picture orders and money are due Friday, November 3rd.  If you are not ordering pictures, please return the envelope.

Shop ‘n Save SEED Program:  The Pittsburgh Zoo will be at MMCS for an Endangered Species Program for grades 6 – 8 on Monday, November 6th.  Programs have been scheduled for all classes.  Grades K – 5 will have a program December 1st.

Chapel:  Grandparents and parents are invited to attend chapel on Wednesday, November 8th.  Honor Roll Ribbons and Attendance Awards will be presented. Please only use the glass doors to the new sanctuary.

Red, White, & Blue Day:  Students may wear Red, White and Blue on Thursday, November 9th, for Veteran’s Day.

Veteran’s Day:  We will not have school on Friday, November 10th, in observance of Veteran’s Day.

Box Tops:  Please send your Box Tops to school.  Our first submission deadline is November 1st.  Our next submission deadline will be March 1st.  If we meet our goal of $1000, we will have a special treat for the students at the end of the school year!  You may also sign up for a Bonus Box Top app on your phone, to help us reach this goal.

Magical Night of Giving:  The 2017 Magical Night of Giving will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017, from 6 to 9 PM at the Morgantown Mall.  We are selling tickets for $5 each that will entitle you to receive the exclusive discounts at stores and enters you for the prize drawings.  Prize winners must be 18 or older.  Volunteers will also be needed to sell tickets at the event.  If you are interested in helping at the mall, would like to help sell tickets, or would like to purchase tickets, please complete the form in your child’s Wednesday folder.  MMCS gets to keep the $5 from each ticket sold.  The 3 organizations with the most ticket sales will get additional cash prizes from the mall.  Visit for more information.  The grand prize shopping sprees will each be worth $1,000.

Five Below:  MMCS will earn 10% of all sales on Black Friday weekend, November 24th – 27th.  We will be sending home fliers.  Please distribute them to anyone whom you feel may be interested in helping us earn extra PTF money while they shop!  If you need extra fliers, please contact the school office.  We will earn money from the Uniontown (121 Matthews Drive) and Morgantown (1070 Giant Street) locations.

The School’s Mission Project for October will be Operation Christmas Child.  Below is a list of the items that we would like for each class to help donate so that a less fortunate child may have a present for Christmas.  Please send all donations to school with your child by November 1st.

Preschool & 5th grade:  TOYS:  small cars, dolls, balls, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, slinky, small Etch-A Sketch, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), small stuffed animals, etc.

Kindergarten:  Sandwich sized Ziploc baggies, T-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (extra batteries)

1st/3rd/4th grades:  SCHOOL SUPPLIES:  pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons,  markers, stamps & ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring books, picture books, etc.

2nd grade:  SMALL STUFFED ANIMALS:  beanie baby size

6th/7th/8th grades:  TOILETRIES:  toothbrush, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.
