Wednesday Notes 11-8-17

ATTENTION PARENTS WHO PICKUP THEIR CHILDREN:  We must change the location for parents who pick up and drop off their children from November 13 – 20.  The trailers for Operation Christmas Child will be loaded in the area where we usually have students picked up by parents.  Parking will not be permitted in the upper lot to pick up children from November 13 – 20.  Your child may be picked up at the glass doors to the New Sanctuary.  This is the parking lot in front of the church building.  Please form a line on the street and as you pull into the parking lot, we will release your child.

Red, White, & Blue Day:  Students may wear Red, White and Blue on Thursday, November 9th, for Veteran’s Day.

Veteran’s Day:  We will not have school on Friday, November 10th, in observance of Veteran’s Day.

Magical Night of Giving:  The 2017 Magical Night of Giving will be held on Sunday, November 12th, from 6 to 9 PM at the Morgantown Mall.  We are selling tickets for $5 each that will entitle you to receive the exclusive discounts at stores and enters you for the prize drawings.  Prize winners must be 18 or older.  Volunteers will also be needed to sell tickets at the event.  If you took tickets to sell, the money was due Friday, November 3rd.  You may also turn in any unsold tickets to MMCS.  MMCS gets to keep the $5 from each ticket sold.  The 3 organizations with the most ticket sales will get additional cash prizes from the mall.  Visit www.morgantownmall.com/events-news/event/magical-night-of-giving for more information.  The grand prize shopping sprees will each be worth $1,000.

Sarris Candy Sale:  Sarris Candy fliers were sent home in your child’s Wednesday folder.  This fundraiser is used to help offset tuition costs.  Money and orders will be due on Wednesday, November 15th.  The candy will be delivered on Thursday, December 14th.

Christmas Store:  Forms were sent home in your child’s Wednesday folder for Christmas Store.  The Christmas Store will be held by the PTF from December 4th – 8th during school hours.  We do not try to make money on this event.  The purpose of the store is to give all of our students an opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts for immediate family members.  The money and forms are due by November 21stPLEASE DO NOT RETURN THE FORMS WITHOUT THE MONEY.

Thanksgiving Feast:  The feast will be held on Wednesday, November 22nd.  All students have been asked to bring something.  Please send the items to school on the date requested.

Thanksgiving BreakStudents will be dismissed at 2:15 on Wednesday, November 22nd.  School will be closed Thursday, November 23rd to November 27th.

Five Below:  MMCS will earn 10% of all sales on Black Friday weekend, November 24th – 27th.  Fliers may be found in the Wednesday folder.  Please distribute them to anyone whom you feel may be interested in helping us earn extra PTF money while they shop!  If you need extra fliers, please contact the school office.  We will earn money from the Uniontown (121 Matthews Drive) and Morgantown (1070 Giant Street) locations.

Operation Christmas Child:  We are still collecting items for Operation Christmas Child through Friday, November 17th.  We have not received many donations.  Items that each class is collecting may be found on the back of this paper.

Lunch Reminder:  Walking tacos are on November 8th.  Hamburgers will be served on November 15th.  Notes were sent home if this affected your child.   Middle School forms were misprinted.

Evacuation Drills:  MMCS will be practicing evacuation drills every so often during the school year.

Sheetz Coupons:  We still have Sheetz coupon books available in the office for $10 each.  These would make a great stocking stuffer!

Applebee’s Dining To Donate:  Applebee’s will donate 15% of your check when you dine-in or takeout at Applebee’s in Uniontown on  Monday, December 4th, from 11 am to 9 pm.  A flier to present to your server will be sent home soon.  If you need extra copies for friends and family, please call the school office.  You may also present the picture of the flier from the MMCS Facebook page.

Christmas Program:  The Christmas Program will be held on December 15th, at 1:15 PM.  Students in Kindergarten will have a couple of songs to sing and may wear Christmas dress clothes.  Students in 1st through 5th grades should wear a plain red shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes.  If your child needs to dress for a part, Mrs. Brown, will send a note home.  Students in 6th – 8th grades will not be performing.  They will be helping with props, artwork, Powerpoint presentations, etc.

The School’s Mission Project for October will be Operation Christmas Child.  Below is a list of the items that we would like for each class to help donate so that a less fortunate child may have a present for Christmas.  Please send all donations to school with your child by November 17th.

Preschool & 5th grade:  TOYS:  small cars, dolls, balls, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, slinky, small Etch-A Sketch, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), small stuffed animals, etc.

Kindergarten:  Sandwich sized Ziploc baggies, T-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (extra batteries)

1st/3rd/4th grades:  SCHOOL SUPPLIES:  pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons,  markers, stamps & ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring books, picture books, etc.

2nd grade:  SMALL STUFFED ANIMALS:  beanie baby size

6th/7th/8th grades:  TOILETRIES:  toothbrush, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.
