“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6
At MMCS, we believe in “paying it forward”. Each month classes complete a project for such organizations as Operation Christmas Child, Center for Hope, and local food banks — to name a few. As a school we also participate in several large projects each year. We have collected thousands of dollars for: The American Heart Association, the Heifer Project, Samaritan’s Purse Heart Program, and other local missions over the last several years. Hundreds of food products have been collected for local shelters; loads of slightly used clothing have been collected for needy families in our community; hundreds of blankets have been made for the ill children at WVU Hospitals, West Penn Hospital, and the Caring Place. We are also committed to supporting our local nursing homes, the VFD, and our military – active and veterans.
Our school believes that we need to encourage children to have a heart for others. It is not unusual for the students to elect to collect specific items for others at Christmas rather than have a gift exchange or to bring in their gifted “birthday money” to give to a project for which we are collecting. When there is a need in the community, our school tries their best to help.
For the 2017-2018 school year, our mission projects are Lind-A Hand, South America Mission, and the Ronald McDonald House. Click below for more information.
